Guide for UK and European customers to navigate our online auction

In 2021 we expanded our services to better serve our customers in Europe. The initial opening of our EU office in 2020, and growth of operations out of it, allowed for a significant improvement in how customers in Europe can get bottles to and from Rum Auctioneer.

The widening of our core operations into Europe marked a significant milestone for Rum Auctioneer. We were thrilled that our already established base in Germany facilitated these changes and allowed us to continue to provide an industry leading auction experience for all.

Rum Auctioneer operates out of two locations, the UK and the EU. Our customers can utilise our full range of buying and selling services from either location.

To help you navigate our site and services, our lot listings have icons which help you establish:

1. Lot Location - This will tell you whether the lot is sold from our UK office in Scotland, or our EU office in Germany.

2. Relevant Fees / Duties / Taxes / Etc. - Different countries and regions have a wide variety of rules on fees, duties, customs, taxes etc. in relation to the items auctioned on our site.

Before bidding, please make sure you understand how these lot locations will impact you depending on your location.

How these lot locations will impact you will depend on your location and/or where you are wishing your order to ship to.

Before bidding, please select your area below to find the guidance relevant to you.

  • UK
  • EU
  • Rest of World (any other country outside the UK or not within the European Union)

Before you bid, please refer to our shipping information to check for any delivery restrictions or associated costs for your delivery country, particularly if you are a buyer based in Sweden, France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia or Hungary.

Important information to check before bidding includes the delivery options and shipping costs for your country, as well as any country specific customs, duties or fees.

If you have won lots based in both the UK and EU, then these will be shipped separately. You will receive separate shipping/tracking notices and details. We appreciate your patience with this. Please allow 10 days following the payment for those separate shipping/tracking details to come through to you via email.

Having two bases means we can provide our customers with the service they have come to expect from us – a great selection of rum, excellent support for sellers, dedicated promotional and content team and industry-leading expertise and authentication. It also ensures that we offer the widest reach for buyers and sellers across the globe.

Both of our locations support and inform our customers – we provide dedicated help pages, responsive customer support, unrivalled detail and insight through our lot pages and marketing, superior imagery including 360 degree photos for special lots.

We make it easy as possible to sell with Rum Auctioneer and to get your bottles to us. If you have specific questions on how we can assist you from either of our locations, that are not covered here or in our Help section, contact our Client Services Team and they will be happy to help.
