The Bloomsbury Wine & Spirit Company was primarily an importer and distributor based in England, although it also had a strong reputation as an independent bottler.

Established in 1993, most of its own-brand bottlings were produced between 2000 and 2005. Among these were a number of notable rum releases that included a Demerara rum finished in ex-Laphroaig sherry casks.

History

The Bloomsbury Wine & Spirit Company was established in 1993 by John Thomas Anderson. It was originally called the Superoften Company Ltd, changing its name after just a single month of trading. Based in Dagenham, England, the business' primary activities were the wholesaling of wine, however its spirits interests saw it establish itself briefly as an independent bottler of some reverence.

Demonstrably knowledgeable and known for quality selections (mostly of Scotch whisky), these releases mostly appeared during the period from 2000 to 2005. Among these were a 27-year-old pot still rum from Jamaica, and 1992 vintage pot still Guyana rum that was finished in an ex-Laphroaig sherry cask. As with many of their bottlings, both of these were destined for distribution in the Japanese market and have become incredibly collectable.

The company ceased trading toward the end of the decade however and was eventually dissolved in 2010.
