Carel Ellinckhuysen & Zoonen

Carel Ellinckhuysen & Zoonen was a historic Dutch trading company that traced its history back to 1723. The original firm was involved in a triangular trade between Europe, Indonesia and the Caribbean and it primarily traded in rum and arrak. The market for the latter was highly competitive however, and the company's fortunes turned in the early 20th century when it eventually ceased trading.

The company name was then later revived in the 1990s by an independent bottler, also based in Rotterdam. It released a handful of single cask bottlings of rum and arrak which it labelled as Van Dijk rums.
