J. Chatel

J. Chatel SARL (trading occasionally as Distillerie Chatel) is a rum company based in Saint-Denis on Réunion. It is one of the few remaining on the island and was founded as a liquor store on rue Juliette-Dodu in 1907 by a former pharmacist named Jean Chatel. It was under the ownership of his daughter, Jeanne Chatel, that the company moved into production, and her son, Alain Chatel, that its brand names developed global recognition. Today the company bottles Chatel branded spirits in a number of categories that include rum, vodka, liqueurs and bottled cocktails and punches.

While the company does not directly own a distillery, it has a stake in Réunionnaise du Rhum which owns Savanna.
