Kirin Group

Founded in 1907, Kirin is a Japanese holdings company that, among others, has a number of alcoholic drinks divisions including Kirin Brewery Company and Mercian Corporation. It is in turn a part of the larger Mitsubishi Group.

The company's spirits holdings are predominantly in the whisky industry and it has no direct dealing with rum. It did however previously own the Beenleigh distillery in Australia and Inner Circle brand through its Lion subsidiary, and it is a significant shareholder in Ginebra San Miguel who make Don Papa rum for Diageo.
