Bacardi Recife

The Bacardi rum distillery in Recife, Brazil was opened in 1961 and was the first subsidiary company of its then Bahamas based operation, Bacardi International Limited. Although less prominent than many of its other plants, the distillery is notable as the original producer of the famed 151 Proof.

The distillery continued to operate through the 1970s and 1980s, but was eventually closed following the creation of Bacardi Limited in 1992 in order to unify is disparate international operations.
