This months auction brings together an exciting range of rare and distinctive rums, highlighting both historic bottlings and innovative modern releases.

One of the standout lots is the Velier Royal Navy Tiger Shark, an exceptional example of Luca Gargano’s philosophy of pure rum. These pot still rums, sourced from Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad, represent the pinnacle of the Royal Navy blending tradition. Alongside the standard Velier Navy bottlings, we are pleased to offer an extremely rare Tiger Shark from a small parcel of unlabelled stock reserved by Gargano himself. Each bottle was later given a uniquely numbered label, meaning no two are the same.

We are also delighted to present two rare SMWS Shareholder bottlings from 2001, produced as corporate gifts rather than standard Society releases. Unusually, these bottles list the distilleries rather than the familiar SMWS codes, making them not only scarce but also a unique rarity for collectors.

Another highlight is the remarkable Silver Seal and Velier box set, which has only appeared at auction a handful of times. This unusual collaboration between two independent bottlers showcases their different philosophies. Silver Seal presents continentally aged single casks, while Velier focuses on tropical ageing and pure pot still Jamaican rums.

From Jamaica, we also offer a fascinating trio of vintage bottlings from the 1960s and 1970s. These include Hudson’s Bay Jamaica Rum, Vaughan Jones’ Standard Pure Old Jamaica Rum, and a Wray and Nephew 8 Year Old Tropical Years expression. Together these bottles offer a glimpse into a style rarely encountered today, and represent an era when Jamaican rum was widely bottled and distributed by a variety of merchants and importers.

Finally, we feature several lots of Clairin, Haiti’s traditional cane juice spirit. Our selection includes several of Velier’s Clairin Vieux and other aged Clairin expressions, offering a rare opportunity to explore this distinctive and increasingly celebrated category.
