Medine Group

The Medine Group is a large corporate entity based in Mauritius, originally founded as the Medine Sugar Estates Company in 1911. By the turn of the 20th century the company was looking diversify in the face of the declining sugar industry, rebranding itself as Medine Ltd in 2009. That part of the group continues to run its sugar operations, alongside Excelsior United Development Companies Limited (EUDCOS) and Société de Développement Industriel & Agricole Limitée (SODIA). The latter is primarily engaged with poultry farming, while EUDCOS manages activities such as production and sale of alcohol and vinegar, tour operations, hotel and commercial sector operations and rental of investment properties.

Rum-related subsidiaries of EUDCOS include the Medine Distillery Company Ltd, the former Medine Rum Ltd, New Goodwill Co Ltd, International Distillers (Mauritius) Ltd and the Indian Ocean Rum Company.
