Saccone & Speed is a former British company that traces its roots back to 1839 when James Speed set up a business in Gibraltar. It merged with Jerome Saconne in 1908 to form Saccone & Speed which was best-known for its ownership of the Hankey Bannister Scotch brand. However, it also had interests in retail as well and import and distribution, including rum.
The company was acquired by United Distillers in 1988 and later dissolved by its successor, Diageo, in 2008. It has since been revived in Gibraltar as a wholesaler, reincorporated in 2011.
