Varela Hermanos

Varelas Hermanos SA is a Panamanian company that traces its roots back to 1908 with the foundation of the Ingenio San Isidro sugar mill by Don José Varela Blanco. It owns the Hacienda San Isidro distillery which is still located on the original site, and is a rarity in that it still makes rum using molasses from its own estate-grown sugarcane.

The company launched its flagship Ron Abuelo brand in 1960, and also produces and markets a portfolio of other spirits.
