Hacienda San Isidro

Hacienda San Isidro (sometimes referred to as Don José) is a Panamanian distillery in Pesé, Herrera. It has its roots in 1908 when Don José Varela Blanco founded the sugar mill, Ingenio San Isidiro. He then opened a distillery on the site in 1936 at the encouragement of his sons, José, Manuel, Plinio and Julio.

The distillery remains family-owned to this day, and is managed by Varelas Hermanos SA. It is one of the few distilleries in the world that still makes its from rum from molasses produced from its own estate-grown sugarcane.
