Demerara Distilleries

Demerara Distilleries Ltd was a rum company in Guyana that managed the Enmore distillery. It was a subsidiary of Guyana Distillers Ltd (which owned Uitvlugt), which in turn was part of the rum holdings of British-based Booker Brothers, McConnell & Co Ltd.

The government in Guyana began to nationalise its sugar industry in 1975, acquiring the Booker companies in 1976. They were placed in the control of the Guyana Liquor Corporation until the creation of Demerara Distillers Ltd in 1983.
