HOLMEX SAS is a holding company established in 1994 by Yves Hayot in order to manage his diverse portfolio of business interests. Among these are a number of rum companies that include the Simon distillery and the Habitation Saint Etienne ageing facility, acquired in 2004 by absorbing its predecessor, COMEX. Despite Hayot's passing in 2017, the company remains family-owned.

The Simon distillery is operated by the company as a contract-distillers, and produces rum for its subsidiary, HSE SAS. These rums are aged at Habitation Saint Etienne and bottled as the HSE brand. It has also previously distilled rum for for Yves Hayot's brother's company, GBH, and its Clément label.
