Indian Ocean Rum Company

Indian Ocean Rum Company was established in Mauritius in 2010 as a co-venture between local Medine Limited and the UK-based Berry Brothers & Rudd (BBR). The purpose of the company was to create and market rum brands using spirit from the Medine distillery and the the international distribution network of BBR. It launched the Pink Pigeon rum brand in 2010 and the Penny Blue label in 2013.

In 2019, the Medine Ltd share was transferred to another Medine Group entity, Excelsior United Development Companies Limited (EUDCOS). The in 2021, BBR sold EUDCOS its share, bring the company fully under control of the Medine Group. The trademarks for the rum brands, however, remained the property of BBR.
