Ronera Santa Cruz is a distillery that is owned and operated by the state-run Corporación Cuba Ron SA (Cubaron). The factory in which it is located was originally built in 1919 to produce raw alcohol and brandy spirits. It was nationalised by Fidel Castro's government in 1960, and underwent major reconstruction in 1977 which saw the addition of extensive new facilities. These included the Ronera Sanata Cruz new distillery, blending, bottling and ageing facilities, a yeast production plant and energy block.
The distillery was assigned to Cubaron upon its establishment in 1993 and was originally tasked with producing spirit for the Havana Club brand. With the opening of Ronera San José in 2007, the majority of Havana Club is now produced there, however Ronera Santa Cruz still plays a key role.
