The Travellers distillery is located in Belmopan in Belize. It was built in the 1960s as a business partnership between Jaime Omario Perdomo Sr (aka Don Omario) and Luis Alberto Espat. The latter built the distillery and distilled rum for the former's company, now known as Travellers Liquors Ltd. Omario later bought the distillery from Espat in 1989, completely rebuilding it during the following decade.
Travellers operates a three-column continuous still, and produces a range of aged molasses rums. These are bottled as variety of brands that include Travellers, 1981 and Don Omario's.
Travellers branded rums have been produced since the 1950s when Jaime Omario Perdomo Sr founded what is now Travellers Liquors Ltd as a bar in Belize City. In those days they were blended and bottled using locally produced rums from other distillers. The flagship expression of the brand was its 1 Barrel, and this remains the case today.
The Travellers range is rounded out by a variety of other rums that include 3 Barrel, a 5-year-old, its standard Belizean rum and Classic white and gold rums.
