Black Tears Cuban Spiced
This is the original version of Black Tears, a Cuban spiced rum marketed by The Island Rum Company using spirit distilled by AzCuba at its Heriberto Duquesne Central distillery.
The packaging was refreshed with a new design in 2019 following the creation of Ron Vigia SA, a formal 50:50 business partnership between AzCuba and The Island Rum Company.
Heriberto Duquesne Central
A Cuban distillery operated by the state-owned AzCuba company. It is located within the Villa Clara province and is part of the Heriberto Duquesne Central sugar factory where it was originally opened under the separate name, Santa Fé, in 1944. It provides rum to brands such as Vigia and Vacilón.
Black Tears
A brand of dry spiced Cuban rum. As of 2019 it has been owned by Ron Vigia SA, a 50:50 co-venture between AzCuba and the Norwegian importer and distributor, The Island Rum Company. The rum is distilled in Cuba at the Heriberto Duquesne Central distillery in Villa Clara.
The Island Rum Company
A Norwegian spirits importer and distributor, founded in order to promote Cuban products in the global marketplace. It was founded in 2012 by Tore Villard, Hans Christian Holst and Enrique Arías. In 2019 it co-created Ron Vigia SA, a joint venture with the Cuban state-owned AzCuba.
