Blairmont <B> 1991 Full Proof 15 Year Old
This is a 1991 vintage bottle of the <B> marque, originally produced on a two-column Savalle still at the Blairmont estate on the banks of the Berbice river. The distillery closed in 1962 and its still is believed to have been scrapped in the process. Production of the <B> marque was subsequently assigned to Uitvlugt distillery where it was replicated on its four-column Savalle still instead. This remains the most versatile of Guyana's "heritage stills," and currently produced nine different marques at its current home at Diamond distillery.
Uitvlugt
A sugar factory in Guyana that operated a rum distillery until 1999. Pronounced [eye-flut], it was located on the west bank of the Demerara river near the Dutch-established town of the same name. The distillery operated a number of historic stills, many of which are still in operation at Diamond.
Demerara Distillers Ltd
A rum company in Guyana, founded in 1983 through the merger of Guyana Distilleries Ltd and Diamond Liquors Ltd. Its flagship brand is the El Dorado label, which produces on a variety of still at Diamond. It also has subsidiary interests across the Caribbean and Europe.
