The Blairmont sugar estate was founded in the early 19th century by James Blair. It was originally named Balthyork, and was retitled by Harry Davson following his acquisition of it in 1880. The estate is located along the Berbice rive in Guyana and still exists today as part of the Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc (GuySuCo).

Like the majority in Guyana, the sugar factory also had a distillery tied to it which produced rum as a means of using is by-product molasses. Despite the estate still existing today however, the distillery was closed down in 1962 under ownership of the Booker Brothers, McConnel & Co.

Rum produced at the Blairmont estate was sold in barrels identified by the marque <B>. Despite closing the distillery down in 1962, occasional production of the Blairmont rum style was continued by the Booker McConnell and subsequently by Demerara Distillers Ltd (DDL) at Uitvlugt and now Diamond where the <B> marque is used in certain blends for the El Dorado brand. The distillery's stills were not retained upon its closure, so today Blairmont rums are produced on the versatile Uitvlugt four-column Savalle.

Only two official bottlings of Blairmont have been released, one in 2006 and the other in 2011. Both were part of a series of DDL bottlings produced for exclusive distribution by Velier SpA in Italy, a partnership which ended in 2014.
