A sugar factory in Guyana that operated a rum distillery until 1999. Pronounced [eye-flut], it was located on the west bank of the Demerara river near the Dutch-established town of the same name. The distillery operated a number of historic stills, many of which are still in operation at Diamond.
Skeldon
A sugar estate in Guyana that was founded in the 19th century to the east of the Berbice river. Although it still exists, the distillery on the site has been closed since 1960 however the SWR marque rums that it produced are still made by Demerara Distillers Ltd at Diamond.
Demerara Distillers Ltd
A rum company in Guyana, founded in 1983 through the merger of Guyana Distilleries Ltd and Diamond Liquors Ltd. Its flagship brand is the El Dorado label, which produces on a variety of still at Diamond. It also has subsidiary interests across the Caribbean and Europe.
