Distillerie Port-au-Prince was built in 2019 and is a collaboration between the Haiti's Barbancourt-Linge family (owners of Berling SA) and La Maison & Velier in Europe. The two entities had held a business relationship since 2012, with the former ageing and bottling the latter's Clairin brands at its Habitation Sarthe Providence.
The distillery produced its first spirit in November 2019, the first rum to be produced using discontinuous-distillation since the pot stills at Barbancourt distillery were removed in 1992. The pot still at Port-au-Prince is a 1500-litre bain-marie copper still, built by Müller in Germany with design assistance from Vittorio Capovilla. Production is overseen by Herbert Linge, and the rum is distilled using Cristalline sugarcane syrup from Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye.
