SangSom Co Ltd is a distillery operation spread across two units in Thailand. The company is a subsidiary of the ThaiBev group which has significant subsidiary holdings across the wine and spirits industry. The original SangSom plant is based in Nakhon Pathom, with a second and larger distillery known as "SangSom 2" opened later in Kanchanaburi.

The distilleries produce molasses-based rums using Thai sugarcane, which are distilled on its multi-column stills.

The SangSom rum brand was launched in Thailand in November 1977 and the original blend was devised by Chula Kanchanaburi. The name SangSom means "moonlight" in Thai, and the the brand has developed a cult association to the Ko Pha Ngan’s famous full moon parties where it is served in buckets.

The brand is available as a single expression called Special Rum, affectionately known as "Rianthong" in its domestic market in reference to the gold medals adorning its label.
