Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.
Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £5.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
Incremental Bidding Explained
Our system increases bids based on preset increments, as shown in the table below, whether you set a maximum bid or make a single bid.

Grande-Terre 1998 Transcontinental Rum Line #7 Cask Strength
La Maison du Whisky, aka LMDW, was founded in 1956 by Georges Benitah and is now one of the largest whisky and rum importers and distributors in France, and known the world over. They opened their first shop in Paris at the legendary 20 Rue d'Anjou in 1968, importing their first Scotch malt whiskies in the 1970s. They are known for their expertise in not only Scotch, but Japanese whisky and rum too, and their collaborative bottlings, as well as their own independent labels like this one, are highly prized.

As there are strict quotas on agricole rum production in Guadeloupe, very little rum is spared for the independent bottling scene, and the casks that are usually distilled from molasses instead. This is from a large batch of molasses rum distilled at Damoiseau in 1998. It was acquired by The Main Rum Company in Liverpool who, with Damoiseau as protected brand name, re-casked it and labelled it as Bellevue after the estate upon which the distillery sits. These are not to be mistaken for the distillery of the same name on the neighbouring island of Marie-Galante, which to add to the confusion is also run by Herve Damoiseau's cousin. The first of these 1998 vintage Damoiseau appeared on the independent scene in 2013, with a proliferation across various brands in the years following. They have been labelled as Bellevue, Grande-Terre, and on a couple of occasions mistakenly identified as South Pacific (a distillery in Fiji).
A large distillery on the Grande-Terre island of the Guadeloupe archipelago, also often known as Damoiseau after its flagship rum brand. The distillery operates three column stills and produces both agricole rum as well as molasses-derived spirit during the months outside of cane-cutting season.
A collection of independently bottled rums, first introduced by La Maison du Whisky in 2016. The series focusses on rums that have been aged both tropically and continentally, itemising the duration each rum has spent in both locations on its labels.
A French company also known by the acronym, LMDW, founded in 1956 by Georges Benitah. It is now one of the largest spirits importers and distributors in Europe. Its has significant rum interests though its LM&V partnership with Velier in Italy and also produces several of its own brands.
A collection of releases from the Transcontinental Rum Line series from La Maison du Whisky. Each bottling is themed as an ocean liner crossing line and is individually numbered as such. The rums are aged both continentally and tropically and are sourced from across the rum-making world.
