This is a dual-bottle presentation from the Velier and E&A Scheer collaboration, Tropical vs Continental Aging. Velier are one of the foremost champions of the former type of ageing, while the Amsterdam-based blenders here fight the corner for the latter. The pack contains two identical rums, except one has been aged fully in the tropics, and the other in Europe.
This contains two Monymusk EMB marked Plummer pure single rums from the Clarendon pot still, both 14 years old. The tropical aged rum is a blend of 10 casks of 2006 vintage, two casks of 2004 vintage and four casks from 2002, all aged in Jamaica (69.7%). The other bottle contains a vatting of 12 2004 vintage casks aged in Europe (64.8%).
A Jamaica distillery that is majority owned by National Rums of Jamaica. The remaining shares are owned by its largest customer, Diageo, who use its spirit for their Captain Morgan label. The distillery's proprietary brand is called Monymusk.
An Italian importer and distributor founded in Genoa in 1947. Under the ownership of Luca Gargano since 1986, it has become one of the most important companies in the world rum. It represents a huge array of brands in Europe as well as marketing a number of its own.
