Nine Leaves 2020 Unsun Karuta - Un of 'Isu'
Nine Leaves
A Japanese distillery that operated between 2013 and 2023. Unusually, the distillery was owned by a large auto-parts manufacturer called Takehiro Co Ltd, and was a passion project of one of its partners, Yoshiharu Takeuchi. The distillery made pot-distilled rums from unique brown sugar base.
Velier
An Italian importer and distributor founded in Genoa in 1947. Under the ownership of Luca Gargano since 1986, it has become one of the most important companies in the world rum. It represents a huge array of brands in Europe as well as marketing a number of its own.
Nine Leaves Unsun Karuta Collection
A collection of Nine Leaves rums from the closed Japanese distillery. Following its cessation of operation in 2023, the remaining casks were acquired by Velier and released as this series, no doubt inspires by Ichiro Akuto's similar Hanyu single malt retrospective between 2005 and 2014.
