DUSA

DUSA is the name used for the rum distillery in Venezuela owned by Destilerías Unidas SA. It was established as LUSA by Licoreras Unidas SA in 1959 as a joint-venture between local distributors and the Seagram Company, however was acquired fully by the latter in 1992. When the Canadian company was dissolved in 2001, Diageo acquired the distillery and sold it on to Destilerías Unidas SA the following year.

The distillery operates a range of stills types that include double retort pot stills, a batch kettle still and Barbet column still. It is best-known for producing the Cacique and Diplomático brands, however it no longer actually owns either.
