Séverin

Distillerie Séverin was a rum producer on the Basse-Terre island of Guadeloupe. It was located within the Domaine de Séverin, which traces its establishment back to the early 19th century. Rum production has long associations to the estate, however the distillery was built by Henri Marsolle in 1928. It remained family-owned until 2014 when a majority interest was acquired by Groupe Jose Pirbekas Holding SAS (Groupe JPH). The Marsolle's retained ownership of the wider domaine however, resulting in years of disputes between the two parties that eventually saw the distillery expelled from the estate by court order over non-payment of rent in 2019.
Séverin rums were produced using a cane juice wash and distilled on its steel column still. They have been bottled under the names Domaine de Séverin and Distillerie Séverin, as well as contributing to the Rhum Marsolle blends (which include spirit from Carrère). Despite the distillery's closure, Groupe JPH continue to bottle its rum and are actively seeking to relocate procuction.
Rum from the Distillerie Séverin was first marketed by the Marsolle family and over the years have included a number of now sought-after vintages releases. The brand at that time also offered a variety of liqueurs and bottled punches.
Under the ownership of Groupe JPH, the distillery's rum was rebranded in 2021 and is now sold under the Distillerie Séverin name. It is available as rhum blanc in a variety of strengths, as well as rhum vieux expressions that include a VSOP, XO and 6-year-old. It has also continued the tradition of offering bottled punches.
