A sugar factory in Guyana that operated a rum distillery until 1999. Pronounced [eye-flut], it was located on the west bank of the Demerara river near the Dutch-established town of the same name. The distillery operated a number of historic stills, many of which are still in operation at Diamond.
A historic brand of Demerara rum, first blended and bottled in Scotland by George Morton of Dundee. The trademark for the brand was first registered in 1957 and has passed through several ownerships including the Argyll Group, Diageo, Pernod Ricard and now Wm. Grant & Sons who bought it in 2002.
A non-trading subsidiary company within the William Grant & Sons group, still used to label the famous O.V.D brand. The company was originally founded in Dundee in 1838 and has passed through several ownership changes before being bought by Grant's in 2002.
