Caroni 1988 15 Year Old Blended
This 1985 vintage Caroni is a vatting of both the distillery's heavy and light styles of rum. It was bottled for Velier in France in 2005.
The rums were produced in the brief period between 1980 and 1985 when some sherry was added by Caroni (1975) Ltd to the heavy type spirit. This was due to a fear that the decommissioning of the distillery's pot still would reduce the trademark aromatics of its production. The practice was later altered and the sherry added at the blending stage so it is unclear which (if any) Velier bottlings include this as an additive.
