The Saint James distillery in Lamentin, Martinique was built on the Acajou estate at the Jeanne d'Arc crossroads. The land was originally acquired by Ernest Lambert & Cie in 1912 and sold along with the original Trouvaillant distillery in Saint-Pierre to the Marquis de Vibraye's Société d’Investissement des Caraïbes (SIC) in 1955.
Production of the Saint James brand was subsequently shared between the distilleries on the Trouvaillant and Acajou estates until 1973 when the company was bought by Cointreau & Cie. Both were then closed and operations were consolidated at a new distillery in Sainte-Marie the following year.
