Saint James is a historic brand of rhum agricole from Martinique which has been accredited with the island's AOC status since 1996. Rum has been sold under the Saint James name since 1765, however it was not until 1882 that it first trademarked in France by François-Paulin Lambert, who later bought the distillery where it was produced in 1890. Today it is is part of the rum holdings of COFEPP who manage it through their La Martinquaise spirits division.
As of 1974, production was moved from the distilleries in Saint-Pierre and Lamentin and consolidated in its current home in Sainte-Marie. Saint James is bottled there using only rum distilled from the juice of its own estate-grown C4 sugarcane. Its core range is extensive, dived between a selection of rhum blanc and rhum ambré, and a range of rhum vieux in VO, VSOP, XO, 12- and 15-year-old age statements.
