Dictador 1980 2 Masters / Chateau D'Arche

The Destilería Colombiana was established in 1913 by Don Julio Arango y Parra and today it is still run by members of his family. The distillery’s flagship brand, Dictador, is named after Severo Arango y Ferro, nicknamed \"El Dictador,\" for the heavy hand with which oversaw trade between Spain and its colonies in the 18th century. Don Julio was one of his descendants. The distillery operates both copper pot stills as well as a stainless steel six-column continuous still, and uses a wash made from sugarcane “honey.” This is the product of the first stage in molasses production, which produces a syrup by boiling off the water from freshly pressed cane juice. This provides a lighter distillate than traditional molasses.

The 2 Masters series is a range of rums that pairs the wisdom of Dictador master blender, Hernan Parra, with another from the world of wine and spirits.

This example was co-created with Jerome Cosson of Chateau D'Arche.

Isla del Tesoro Extra Anejo

During the aftermath of the Cuban revolution in 1959, Fidel Castro began nationalising much of the country’s industry, including seizing control of its rum companies. Today, all Cuban rum production remains state-controlled, organised under the Cubaron SA company since 1993. Its biggest product is Havana Club (co-owned by Pernod-Ricard, who handle its promotion and distribution), but it has also manufactured smaller brands like this. Today they are all produced in one of or a combination of its four distilleries: Ronera Santa Cruz, Roneras Santiago de Cuba, Ronera Central and Ronera Cárdenas.

This rum is from the Santiago de Cuba distillery. The name is Spanish for \"Treasure Island\" and apparently bottles of this rum were often gifted by the Cuban government to various persons.

Presented in an attractive ceramic flagon.

Please note due to the size of this lot, it will carry a two-bottle shipping fee.

Savanna Traditionnel 2001 Single Cognac Cask 17 Year Old #537

The Savanna distillery is the oldest on the Île de la Réunion, established in 1870 by Olive Lemarchand and at the time known as Parc à Jacques. The Domain of Savanna was formed six years later, with records showing the distillery producing rum principally from a molasses wash. This facility operated until the 1940s when Émile Hugot consolidated a number of sugar factories, including Savanna, to form the Bourbon Sugar Company. The original Savanna distillery in Saint Paul continued to operate until 1992 when it was relocated to its current location in Bois-Rouge. Despite expanding the distillery in 1995 and again 1999, The Bourbon Sugar Company divested from rum in 2001, and the distillery passed through various hands to its current ownership, Tereos in France. The distillery’s creole column still dates from 1964, and under the guidance of master distiller and rum-savant, Laurent Broc, produces a wide range of traditional and agricole rums, including these much-lauded Grand Arôme. Some distilling also take place on a tiny alembic pot still.

This 2000 vintage rhum traditionnel was distilled from a molasses wash and was matured 17 years in the tropics.

Aged in French oak ex-Cognac cask #537.

One of 300 bottles.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).

Incremental Bidding Explained
Our system increases bids based on preset increments, as shown in the table below, whether you set a maximum bid or make a single bid.
